ChenZhen, it is absolutely within bounds to question the affiliations of a potential presidential candidate. A person you come by on the street or meet at a business dinner, usually doesn’t have friends or associates who helped to detonate bombs at the Pentagon, National Guard Stations, random buildings, etc.

Imagine if one of McCain’s political associates, who had thrown a campaign kick-off party for him, served on a board with him and was described as being “friendly” with him, was a known abortion clinic bomber from the late 70’s.
    Wouldn’t that be an issue?

If John McCain or Hillary Clinton, had a pastor for 20 years who “preached” about the government poisoning black people with aids and drugs, etc. and had associates who helped to set bombs, it would be an issue, and rightly so. It calls into question his/her judgement.

Dude, How do you define “pal”? Obama is NOT personal friend of Bill Ayers. Obama, being a public figure involved in politics has met a lot of people from all walks of life in his life. Any association with Mr. Ayers has been after his controversial past.

Your post was very misleading. Bill Ayers has never been convicted of any crimes just for the record. I am not saying he not guilty of wrong doing. He was part of a movement that went over board during some trying times. Shit happens sometimes in one’s youth but he moved on to another phase of his life. He happens to be a Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago currently for your information.

He helped murder people by setting bombs. Murder…those people aren’t coming back.
If the guy who held one of McCain’s campaign launch parties helped to blow up abortion clinics in the late 70’s (and was stll ‘friendly’ with McCain) would it be an issue for you?

“Shit happens sometimes in one’s youth but he moved on to another phase of his life. He happens to be a Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago currently for your information.”

As late as 2001, the man said he was not sorry for setting the bombs, in fact, he said he felt like he didn’t do enough. The University of Illinois must be very proud.

Again, if someone McCain knew and spent time with, as late as 2002, was an unrepentant abortion clinic bomber, would you say it isn’t an issue? I know I wouldn’t vote for the guy in that situation.

RE: “Dude, please consider something substantive, without Rumor, Innuendo, Accusation, etc…. Just Say Something.”

It’s a fair point, but I have put up quite a few posts on issues, such as health care, the War in Iraq, Barack’s ridiculous capital gains tax position, etc.

I focus on Obama because I am learning more and more about the guy’s past every day. I want to know the man that may become my president and so far, i know he hung with marxist professors and liberal radicals in college (Dreams from my Father) and racist, anti-american people afterwards. He named his second book after a speech (which he talks about at great lenght in ‘Dreams’) given by Rev. Wright–but now he distances himself from them both. It’s disengenuous at best.

Plus, Obama has a more liberal voting record than the self-proclaimed socialist, Bernie Sanders. Come on, this guy isn’t who he says he is.

Name one thing he has ever done to reach out to the other side of the aisle. He never has. McCain on the other hand, has a long record of doing just that.

as for Ayers not being convicted of a crime: He admits he was and says he’s proud of it.

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he cosponsored legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In the current 110th Congress, he has sponsored legislation on lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel.

In 2005, he cosponsored the “Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act” introduced by Sen. Partnering first with Sen. Dick Lugar (R-IN), and then with Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), Obama successfully introduced two initiatives bearing his name. “Lugar–Obama” expands the Nunn–Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept to conventional weapons, including shoulder-fired missiles and anti-personnel mines.[Thomas Reference] The Lugar–Obama initiative subsequently received $48 million in funding.[Press Reference] The “Coburn–Obama Transparency Act” provides for the web site USAspending.gov, managed by the Office of Management and Budget.[Fed Website Reference] The site lists all organizations receiving Federal funds from 2007 onward and provides breakdowns by the agency allocating the funds, the dollar amount given, and the purpose of the grant or contract.[Thomas Reference]

In the first month of the newly Democratic-controlled 110th Congress, Obama worked with Russ Feingold (D–WI) to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the “Honest Leadership and Open Government Act,” which was signed into law in September 2007.[The Hill Reference] He joined Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in sponsoring S. 453, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections, including fraudulent flyers and automated phone calls, as witnessed in the 2006 midterm elections.[Press Reference] Obama’s energy initiatives scored pluses and minuses with environmentalists, who welcomed his sponsorship with John McCain (R-AZ) of a climate change bill to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by two-thirds by 2050, but were skeptical of his support for a bill promoting liquefied coal production.[Press Reference]

    Again…. Substantive….

I never said it was not a problem and I don’t agree with their extreme tactics. I do understand why they felt the need to do something since 60,000 Americans and 4 million or so Vietnamese died in the war. Once again Obama is not a friend of Mr. Ayers so it’s irrelevant. Sorry, please don’t compare unborn fetuses with living people it’s kinda weird.

“…i know he hung with marxist professors and liberal radicals in college…”

So? Are you saying we only should associate with people who agree with you on everything 100%? Marxists, liberals, leapers, and child molesters Oh My! Maybe Obama should have capped their asses… I guess if you want to run for office these days before you attend any meetings or shake any hands better do a background check on everyone before hand to weed out the undesirables.

“Plus, Obama has a more liberal voting record than the self-proclaimed socialist, Bernie Sanders. Come on, this guy isn’t who he says he is.”

Why do you right wingers always have to have a sentence with liberal and socialist in it? A Republican blogging by-law?

An ‘unborn fetus’ is alive, which means it is living, so I think it is perfectly appropriate. Maybe You have convinced yourself that a baby in the womb isn’t a human being but I, on the otherhand, am conflicted.

Many, many women regret having abortions and feel, afterwards, like they killed their baby. But, maybe you know better. I don’t.

“Obama is not a friend of Mr. Ayers”

There is no way you could know that. Maybe you should keep an open mind.

“Why do you right wingers always have to have a sentence with liberal and socialist in it?”

When it comes to Barack Obama’s record, It would be disengenuous to call him anything but liberal. And when, he is compared to the only socialist in the U.S. Congress, he comes out to the left of him.

There is no legislation of any consequence that Barack has proposed or staunchly supported — other than surrendering in Iraq.

Your post proves my point. There is nothing of any consequence today on that list (I read his wikipedia page too). He got with Lugar and Coburn in a no-brainer piece of legislation and McCAin on climate change and immigration (both of which I disagree with McCain on). He was one of nine cosponsors of that bill, which didn’t pass anyway. He led on none of these issues.
So, Obama is willing to join Republicans who move to the left, but is he willing to move to the right to get a consensus? Nothing here suggests that.

Oh wait, he “worked” with Russ Feingold on lobbyist restrictions, made official trips, and he’s against voting fraud. Wow, against fraud, that’s a brave move.

He did, however, vote ‘Present’ on many important pieces of legislation and voted with the Dems on all other legislation
Check this out from the Washington Post: It lists his key legislation:
    http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/members/o000167/key-votes/

    From the Congressional Quarterly
“In 2007, Obama voted with his fellow Democrats 97 percent of the time. In 2006, his score was 96, and in 2005, he again netted a 97 percent rating.”

You asked for a single example of when Sen Obama “reached out to the other side of the aisle” and were provided with a few. Now, in typical fashion, you say “There is no legislation of any consequence that Barack has proposed or staunchly supported”… It is difficult to consider the opinions of any individual who cast such accusations about Americans and when provided with information that contradicts their assertions, responds with a change in criteria.

There is nothing that will satisfy, what may be stated as obviously, a hatred for this candidate. It would perhaps be more genuine if you simply state such instead of challenging others to provide you with factual information that you’ll simply dismiss.

“There is nothing that will satisfy, what may be stated as obviously, a hatred for this candidate.”

I don’t have a hatred for Barack Obama at all. I don’t know the man. I am a philosophical conservative and as a conservative, I do not find any positions that Obama takes desireable in a President of the United States. I also find his affiliations to be dubious, and I don’t trust him. I feel the exact same way about Hillary, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, Chucky Schumer and Bernie Sanders, among others.

I will not vote for Obama for these reasons, and I will use this venue to share my thoughts and opinions.

As to your previous post, I probably phrased the original question wrong. Anyone who is a senator obviously has taken trips and worked with others and co-sponosored legislation here or there.

What I should have asked, is What has Barack Obama done that qualifies him to be President of the U.S.?
Two years in the Senate (before running), where very little was accomplished, and he didn’t ‘cross’ the isle to join the Republican side on anything. Republicans crossed the line to join with him.

But, answer this if you will, rjohnson, Would you vote for a candidate who threw his campaign launch party at David Duke’s house? Or a candidate who was “friendly” with an unrepentant abortion clinic bomber? I think you might find that to be an issue. No?
